I May Need Intervention or At Least a Life

I am over here today:

Got Thesis?

Got Thesis?

Ramblings of a Brain Fried Mother-read at your own risk.

A long time ago when they introduced the Thesis WordPress Theme I jumped on the band wagon.  What is funny is I know NOTHING about web design (or at least I did not at the time).  Unfortunately Thesis is addicting and the designers and people are very nice and helpful.  Which led to a very bad discovery…..

I enjoy CSS & web design.

Thesis makes it easy, or at least easy to pretend you are some sort of web designer (which I am not).  What I love about the Thesis theme is that you can design it to become anything you want.  Just look at the showcase, or even the difference between this design and my book review site (all the same WordPress theme-Thesis).  Anyways, my point is not to sell you on Thesis (even though I think it is the best), but to explain that is why it has become my latest time sucker (well besides laundry, raising kids, feeding my family, etc…).

I still don’t know what I am doing, except for the fact I know enough to be dangerous and drive the ones who actually know what they are doing up the wall (as you can see in this comments section). I am teasing, Matt is awesome in helping us less knowledgeable.

I signed on to write a post today.  Then I thought–I need a new navigation bar because the one I had was causing some behind the scenes problems.  Ok so an hour later I had new navigation tabs (see above my header picture).  Then I think well maybe I should change the background.

I am telling you, “if you give a mouse a cookie (or a coy of Thesis).”  It can be dangerous.

See the red boxes over there (Remarks, Popular, Recent) ——>  they are suppose to collapse so you only see one box at a time.  It is little geeky things like that, that has me saying, “oh let me try this before I shut down.” And when something is not working, it will drive me crazy until it has been figured out.  Then I look up and it is midnight and I have lost myself in HTML/CSS world.

Like I said I need a life.  Except in my real life…

MY SON IS DRIVING, css code is so much safer!

Comment Luv

I have many people ask me if I love WordPress, in one word YES! Now granted blogger has made some advancement since we parted ways, but what I love about WordPress are the various plug-ins you can use on your site. These plug-in make life so much easier.

One of my favorite plug-ins is CommentLuv. For people who blog and leave a comment on my site, it gives a little “link love” back. Also it gives me a quick link to read your last post. It saves me some time and helps you in return.

Well Andy Bailey, the creator of Comment Luv has been working hard on a new version. I should mention that CommentLuv is not only for WordPress but also for Blogger / Blogspot.
The plug-in is free and he is running a contest with some great prizes to get the word out. And as it stands now he has enough prizes to run 4 weeks straight.

How do you win?

A person comments on your blog and if they’re a winner, their last blog post will come back as a prize notification. They click that after it has been submitted and published on your site and enter their details on the claim page here to receive the prize.

How does it help you?
It will help increase traffic to your site. I bet many of you that use comment Luv have not resisted here.

What are a registered blog owner’s requirements?

You need to have your site URL registered and verified at CommentLuv.com.
You must have a profile description entered.
Your CommentLuv plugin must be at version 2.5.4
Your CommentLuv settings must have click tracking and heart info box enabled (default)
Your CommentLuv settings must have your CommentLuv member ID entered
You should make a post on your site to inform your readers that your site is part of the contest and give instructions or links to instructions for how your readers could win. (see below)
You need to make it clear that spam comments could see the person spamming being banned from the entire contest.

What are my sites visitor’s requirements?

They must be registered at CommentLuv.com and have their site url registered and verified.
They must also have a profile description entered at CommentLuv.com.
They cannot spam.
They do not need to have CommentLuv installed on their own site. It would be nice if they make a post about winning the prize on their site and link back to the site where they won the prize (your blog, not commentluv.com)
The contest runs for as long as there are prizes, right now that is 4 weeks!
