Christian Women Affiliate

So Lori what has kept you so busy these last few months (I mean besides book reviewing, raising three boys and a husband, laundry, dishes, etc..) I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED!

Christian Women Affiliate... here!

I received a sweet phone called several months ago from Noelle Mena of Take Root and Write, she asked me to join her in this awesome adventure of providing a place where Christian Women can connect.

You would think I would JUMP at an opportunity and being the adventurer that I am I gave her EVERY reason why she does NOT want me. We did schedule a dinner date so she could explain things better but I hung up the phone and thought “no way” to far out of my comfort zone. I explained this to my husband, who I thought would say “You made a wise decision honey.”

Instead he looked me straight in my face and said, “Honey I am so tired of you not believing in yourself, this is something you need to be apart of.” Well humpf that did not go as planned.

Doors are opening over at Christian Women Affiliate! Are you in yet?

This all occurred  before my last trip to Phoenix and I was having coffee with my sweet sister in law (who I think secretly teamed up with my husband) and she said, “Lori you sell yourself short all the time. You need to do this.”

I returned from Phoenix, met Noelle in real life and as they say…the rest is history. Noelle is the real deal, she loves Jesus with all her heart. And boy can this girl make dreams a reality. I am more of a detail, list type of person. So in reality I think God placed Noelle and I together because we are some what opposites. I am Noelle’s Head Administrator over at CWA. She pushes me out of my comfort zone and I help her stay grounded. ha!

Being Informed

In this month’s Exemplify magazine Shannon of Seeking to Glorify shares about her experience of living a life in a different country. In her article “Through the Storms and the Wilderness: The Word of God Nourishes,” she shares how one load of laundry can take one day due to power outages and they rarely eat meat because it takes so long to prepare. I encourage you to read the whole article.

This article and a book I am currently reading about the women in Afghanistan (soon to be reviewed), many of us have no idea the life of privilege we live. I don’t say that to evoke guilt, God has us where he wants us and where we can bring glory to His name. On the other hand, I think it is our responsibility to know about other cultures.

I think it is our responsibility to know about other cultures.

I listened to a panel discussion while in Dallas recently and one of the panelists, Mary DeMuth shares her experience of living 3 years in France. Instead of the absence of Christ in that culture pulling them away from Him, it actually allowed her and her children the chance to be a light in the darkness. I think sometimes, we as Americans or even Canadians are caught up in the “commercializing” of Christianity.

As I sit here my thoughts bounce from the struggles that Shannon faces while living in India, to Christian women in Afghanistan, and listening to the experiences Mary DeMuth and her family had while living in France, and I wonder (pointing fingers at myself) maybe, just maybe these people find God easier because they realize He is their hope in the midst of suffering. For some reason the verse Matt 19:24 comes to mind:

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into the kingdom of God.”

We are the rich.

With a Godly jealously (because I wish I were going ;) ) I would like to remind you to pray for the Compassion bloggers who will be leaving on a trip to India April 26th. They will return forever changed and I pray through this trip many children will find compassion sponsors.

$32 dollars a month that is it.

Times are tough, I know that first hand, but just think if it is tough on us and funding or sponsorship decreases, just imagine how much more difficult it is for these children. I know I have been personally blessed by my sponsor child.

I Love My Readers Comments and Soon To Be In The Pink

excitedSorry for the lack of posting this week, I think I am anxiously awaiting my new laptop (which should arrive tomorrow).

Regular football season has ended, but there is not much rejoicing yet because we have three bowl games to go.  Why they have “bowl” games for PopWarner escapes this Mom, but what do I know =).  Then after the bowl games, they have a game where we travel to Jacksonville and the boys have the opportunity to meet some of the Jaguar players.  They are very excited about this, I am just waiting for it to be over.  I know I gave up the award for Mom of the Year, years ago.

On a more serious note, I want to thank those who commented on my previous post.  The news article really stuck a cord in me, I think it verified what I suspected to be true.  I just had never seen it as an official statistic.  One thing I know to be true, women between the ages of 40 to 64 are hurting.

These life changes that happen can sometimes be more than a person can bear.  On top of these life changes, we fall in the trap of believing the lies society tells us.  There is a woman I know, who recently lost a lot of weight and got certain enhancements.  The sad thing is, I know it will not replace the longing she has in wanting to be accepted.  I know she has struggled in her marriage, but these external changes are not the answer.  I am not against what she had done, I just know there are deeper issues that are not being dealt with.

I have so many thoughts on this issue but I won’t go into all of it right now, I am still “chewing” on this article.  But I think Debbie hit it on the head in the comment section when she said:

But I think the REAL problem is that many women do not have a personal relationship with God through Jesus. When you realize that you are a child of the Most High God and that He loves you and has a special plan for your life…it changes everything. Then when life doesn’t turn out the way you’d hoped, you know in your heart that this isn’t all there is. After all, this isn’t our home. We’re just passing through until we get to our eternal home.

Well next time I post I should be “in the pink.”  What should I install first?
