Thankful Thursday – Security

I chose security this week, because I have been dealing with a lot of insecurity. Not in my salvation, for that sealed =). One of the ways Satan likes to get a hold of me is through my insecurities (and boy do I have a lot).

Insecurities of what people think.
Insecurities of friendships.
Insecurities of my own abilities….

Oh I could go on. But God says:

…even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matt 10:30-31

We are loved, not because we are something special to love, but we are loved even though we are really nothing special at alllike a sparrow. God chose an everyday bird when talking with his disciples, he did not tell them they had to be someone special (for example if he said, “I love you more then the kings of all the earth).

No he took something ordinary and everyday and said, “you are of more value then MANY everyday, ordinary sparrows.”  God’s love turned your everyday insecurities and transformed them into something extraordinary.

And during our days of insecurity we need to rely and meditate on the SECURITY we have in Christ’s transforming love.

    1. I am thankful He loved me first.

    2. I am thankful God is there to lift me up, when I am weak.

    3. I am thankful God sent his son to die on the cross for my sins.  By doing that he turned this every day, ordinary sparrow into something extraordinary.

    4. I am thankful I can rest on God’s words when my feelings betray me.

    5. I am thankful God gives peace in the midst of crisis.

Thank you for allowing me to host last week and this week.  I try to make it around to everyone but sometimes it is impossible (but know I try =).

So what are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday – Prayer

This week the United States has a new President.  No matter how we feel about him, the Lord calls us to pray for our leaders.  So this week my theme is prayer.

Martin Luther had some strong words about prayer, “Prayer is a strong wall and fortress of the church; it is a goodly Christian weapon.”

Many times I see people going through trials and hardships and I am at a loss of what to do. Prayer is the most powerful thing we can give another person. If you tell a person you are going to say a prayer for them, but sure to follow through. It only takes a moment of your time, but can have lasting impact on the person you are praying for.

    1. I am thankful for my husband’s tender heart.  He has had a rough week and being the boss at work can be tough.

    2. I am thankful for another year with my brother and sister, they both are celebrating birthdays this week.

    3. I am thankful we are on the upswing of feeling better as a family, it seems each of us got hit with the bug.

    4. Thankful that I was invited to be on a creative team with an awsome scrapbook designer.

    5. Also I am thankful for people understanding when I had to scale back some of my commitments.

It is a privilege to be hosting Thankful Thursday for Iris this week and next week.  So what are you thankful for this Thursday?

Thankful Thursday

Iris talks about possibilities this week on Thankful Thursday. That seems to be a running theme in my life lately also. I have seen God open some doors I never thought would be possible for me to walk through; also doors have opened that part of me is scared to walk through.  I am relying on God to lead directly (remember I am the type of girl that likes to stick her big toe in the water first and see how it is.  Jumping in scares the dickens out of me =).

1. I am thankful to have a Mom that can hear my “uglies” but still only see “my best.” I am blessed.

2. I am thankful we were able to buy a dryer this week without breaking the bank.  It is not a fancy front loader, but it drys clothes and that is fine by me! =)

3. I am happy my oldest son’s first round of high school finals are finally completed.  I believe I was reliving some of the “stress” for him.  I become twitchy when it comes to big exams.

4. I am loving my End Times bible study.  Come Lord quickly =)  I do want to say Israel will be holding elections here in 2009 (very shortly) I believe we need to pray that Binyamin Netanyahu, is elected!  He is against Israel giving away land, where the others are in favor of peace treaty’s that promote Israel giving away some of its land.   And we need to pray the US always stays on the side of Israel.  (oh I could talk so much more but I will stop =)

5. I am excited to be hosting Thankful Thursday for the next two weeks while my sweet friends is playing with her “possibilities.”

6. I am thankful my son is feeling better and crossing my fingers that the rest of us stay healthy.

Have a great Thursday.  The kids are excited because it is a long weekend (they are off Friday and Monday).  Ugg Calgon take me away.
