Looking Back

Blessings from unexpected places.  Many times when there is a situation that is stressing me out or causing  me to worry I take it to the Lord and cry out to him and he provides comfort.  Many times the situation does not change but my perspective on things does.  This last week I had a terrible day and half and one day my quiet time consisted of me literally throwing myself down and crying.  I could not even bring myself to concentrate on His word.  I got up, dusted myself off, tried to dry my eyes and walked out to go to work.  As soon as I opened my email box a sweet friend emailed me and said, “The Lord brought you to mind during my quiet time and then she ask about a certain area where I was stressing about.”  It blew me out of the water because I had not talked to anyone.  Then later that day I had met up with a girlfriend and the Lord blessed me by her friendship and caring.  Then the Lord gave me an opportunity to smooth out the area of conflict in my life and it went beautifully.

Does this happen all the time? NO.  God does meet me where I am all the time and he is listening to me all the time, but some times….just sometimes he takes it a step further and in tangible way to remind me “Hey I heard every word.”  I  pray I never stop being in awe of God, of his grace and mercy, and of his compassion.  Sweet friend if life is not going as planned be comforted that God hears you.  Every word.  Sometimes Satan would like us to believe he doesn’t and sometimes God uses those times of conflict to develop a desire within ourselves to seek Him out, but know that he hears and that he cares.  Even about the little things.

Looking Back

This has been a great week and a rough week rolled into one.  My emotions are crashing.  I look forward to resting this weekend and having fun attending a friends wedding shower.  I had a great time speaking to Moms at a MOPS group on Monday, God loves to wow me.  But you know when you stand up and speak about being a mother and you feel the warm fuzzy feelings of motherhood, you then turn around only to be challenged by a child.  So the warm fuzzy feelings quickly faded and I was tempted to place one child outside with a “Free to a Good Home” sign around his neck.  Sigh.. and this to shall pass.

Sometimes you want to pray, “Lord please tell me that it will one day sink in, my child will one day understand, and I will one day look back and say — every challenge and heartache was worth it.”  I do believe that day will come, but the in-between time is what wears a parent down.

God in his mercy knew I needed a day away, so on Thursday a girlfriend and I ran away for the day.  Having girl time for me is too far and in-between so I soak it in like a sponge to water.  It was just what the doctor ordered.

I pray you had a wonderful week, if your week was challenging like mine let me remind you GOD IS FAITHFUL. We don’t see it so much when life is hitting us from all directions, but after the storms calm we often look back and see how God was right there by our side every step of the way.

Praise God for his faithfulness!!

Looking Back

“We are not called to build the kingdom of glory, but to carry a cross in the kingdom of grace. To forget the cause of missions is to forget the purpose of Christ in a world still spared from destruction. The purpose of your life must be the purpose of Christ’s death.”

- Edmund P. Clowney, Called to the Ministry

Five bloggers are witnessing firsthand the ministry of Compassion International to the poor of East India.  Please don’t shy away from their posts, read them and be blessed!

Why is this important?

For one it is important to gain sponsorship for each of the remaining 70 that do not have a sponsor.

It is important to know millions of children going to bed starving tonight have a story.

It is our job to remind them they are not “an invisible man and counted for nothing.”

“He asked me to tell the Petersons he loved them, if I ever happened to meet them.” Sponsors are LOVED.

We need to “be reminded that God can use anyone, anywhere, for anything.”

Compassion is not for the wealthy. “This week – Compassion’s ministry – isn’t about finding wealthy sponsors to benefit poor sponsored children. I think it’s about matching poor sponsors with poor children for the benefit of both.”

Compassion helps with building their self-confidence. “As we talked to the kids, especially the girls, there was a great amount of self-esteem, which for this community and their culture was saying a lot!!”
“Compassion trip emotionally equals about 6 months of emotions at home.” But it is not a ride the people from India can get off of without sponsorship.

You are not just a sponsor with a number. “Let me tell you, no let me assure you- your sponsor child knows your name. Not just your first name. Your last name, too.”

It is much easier to look the other way. “It has been really easy for me to stay out of the water in a lot of ways, and my own cynicism has kept me safe there. But today, as we stood in a house made of bamboo and clay bricks and watched a woman tell us how Compassion had changed their lives, something in my soul settled.”

But if you looked the other way you would miss the beauty. And the singing of a child that will melt your heart.

You would miss the love they shower on you. And the blessings and healing it can bring to a family.

As a sponsor you become aware of the detail Compassion International does for each child. “Anyway, each child has his or her own binder and inside that binder is a thick stack of papers that record everything from medical records to the complete log of child/sponsor correspondence.”

And you teach a young child to dream. Something we so easily take for granted.

I could not say this any better. “One of the things I love about going overseas with Compassion is the chance to see the image of God in the people. “

Joy.  Love.  Hope.  Dreams.

They have had a great turn out for sponsors.  Wouldn’t it be great if all 70 that were left found sponsors as a result of this trip. Check out this web site.
