Wow Is It Really Almost Summer?

Be sure to read all the way down =)

Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day (if you are a Mom). I approach Mother’s day cautiously, I have learned while living in a house of all males you just never know what awaits you. I was showered with love and affection from my boys and husband, but I am the type of person who loves to be told they are appreciated during unexpected times of the year. I don’t like the commercialism and expectations that come with Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Secretary’s Day, etc… surprise me throughout the year. =)

But it is never good practice to spring a paper you have been putting off on Mom on Mother’s Day. One of my sons did that to me yesterday, it was not a happy moment. yiyiyi

We are approaching our last basketball game for my two middle school sons and as the schedule would have it, they play against each other. Both teams want to win very badly and I want to cover my eyes and ask “is it over yet?” I will make sure I won’t wear any of the teams colors because I will be cheering for whichever son is on the floor, not what team is playing.

I can not believe it is almost summer time. Summer time in my house means, food consumed in large quantities because the kids are home more, a house that is never picked up, and tons of boys coming and going at all times of the day (and usually they are stinky, sweaty because they had been playing basketball). Honestly I do mop my floors, but sometimes I wonder why I bother since they do not even stay clean for a day. I know, I know Mom, I will miss this.

My oldest son can apply for his drivers license here in a few weeks (even though he is already 16, in Florida you have to wait one year from the time you get your learners permit before you can get your license). My insurance bill will skyrocket along with my nerves. Maybe I should buy some stock in Nice-n-Easy. =)

We enter this summer with everything up in the air. Usually we travel up to Minnesota every summer, but even that is up in the air. God has us waiting to see where he will lead. But I do know this summer will consist of  basketball, basketball camps, basketball tournaments, and a Mom going crazy from tons of basketball. =)

Good thing this crazy Mom is blessed with an awesome Mom who always listens to me babble on about how crazy my life is and I really need more girl stuff around me. Mom I know I called you yesterday but had to go quickly because of a certain paper that needed proofing yesterday. Just wanted say THANK YOU for always being there and listening to all my craziness. You KEEP me sane.

Blogging is going to probably be light, I am writing only as the Lord leads right now. But you can always catch me on Facebook, that is where I check in the most and try to keep up with everyone. And I am still very active on my book review site!  I am sitting here now taking a break from a book I just received today and have already read half the book.  Some great books coming up you won’t want to miss.

Here are some things I leave you with:

I have made a list of 10 books that would make great summer reads. It was hard to just list 10!!

What I love about blog world is meeting new people, almost daily.  What I also love is there are some who have been my “blog friends” since I first began blogging.  They took me under their wing, showed me the ropes, and were always there in time of need.

Kelli is one of those blogging friends.  The Lord and I have had many conversations where Kelli was the main focus, this is just one of those things I have to trust in the Lord.

If you have a chance can you head on over to read this news Kelli is trying to get out and at the very least can you please pray for my friend.

Thank you.

Obviously My Brain Only Thinks In Lists

Hi! So what is happening with you?  My poor blog is feeling neglected these days.  Well let me share what is going on with me, I will make a list because that seems to be the way my brain is functioning these days.

1. Life has been busy, busy, busy here for me and I wish I could blame it all on sports, but that would not be the truth.  Let’s see:

2. I have helped design or redesign two blogs.  One being Laced With Grace...the other still to come.

3. I helped compile photos and information for another blog.  So three websites all together.

4. These are all things I really, really enjoy.   I am amazed how God brought these opportunities to me.

5. I have a son about ready to turn 16 in a week…but we won’t discuss that because this Mom is not facing that fact.  NO MAM…not thinking about it.

6. I have two sons who are trying out for their middle school basketball teams (they go to different middle schools), one will most likely make it, one possibly not (just because he is young). Not ready to handle a broken-hearted son.  BUT  I could be wrong, that would be awesome if I am.

7. I had two nephews birthdays that I have yet to send something, I am worst Auntie of the year officially.

8. I am busy helping Noelle with Christian Women Affiliate (did you know it is free??).    Another task I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.  Seriously you need to listen to some of these ladies on our CWA BlogTalkRadio.  What a ministry.  I often turn them on each day and listen while I am at work.

9. I am turning 40 this year.  (oh wait did I say that outloud). Hmm not dealing with it and it is not even until Oct.

10. I LOVE, LOVE my book reviewing and have reviewed some awesome “must read” books.  I have a stack of great books to share with you, my problem is getting them all read!!  Just today I received a stack of 5 books–in ONE day!  I need to learn to speed read, ha!!  I usually turn off the computer by 10pm, but I stay up reading and if it is a good book then I am blurry eyed the next morning. ha.  But reading is like breathing for me…a necessity.

11. Do you see why I have not blogged, not much going on that is interesting to share.

12. I had one person ask me, “Lori is there anything you can’t do?”  They meant this as a sincere compliment, but let me tell you there are tons I can’t do.  I suck at girl-friendships, I can not drive away after getting gas w/out a receipt because of the fear of not having proof I paid, I am a mediocre cook, I fear large crowds–would rather sit with you one on one, I like to avoid conflict at all costs (to my determent), and finally (as my sisters will assets to) I need to learn to stand up for myself.  I don’t EVER want to give anyone the impression I have it all together.  I DON’T.  Any good you see is GOD, and I mean that in the most humble sense.  Without him I would fall apart at the seams.

Thanks Mom for reading all the way down, I say that because you may be the only one that did not get bored with my list.  But I wanted to say I am still alive and kicking,  just busy behind the scense.  Be sure to join my book review site because many times I post more over there.

No worries I will be back soon to complain that my oldest son is 16.

Oh and one more thing Friday is the last day to enter to win Laced With Grace’s $50 Amazon Gift Certificate!

So what have you been up to????
