Sometimes life does not go as planned, there is more month than paycheck, kids don’t act as they should, and things seem to spin out of control leaving you wondering if God even hears the prayers you offer up. I have found sometimes…just sometimes God gives you a small sign that he is watching out for you.

Sunday morning was like any typical Sunday morning, you try to get there on time, kids all dress properly and smiles on your face.  Even with older kids, just getting out the door can be a challenge and can turn your joyful mood sour. I plopped myself down in the church pew, then I noticed two rows ahead of me was this little girl who kept looking back.  She had a smile that lit up her whole face.  You could not help smiling yourself when you saw her grinning from ear to ear.  She was being a typical kid moving all around, but she would always look back and give us this big smile or a little wave.  It had my husband and I cracking up.  I realized my sour mood was changed instantly by one little child’s smile.

As I was driving home from church I asked the Lord, when the little children came to you was that God encouraging you, loving on you, and showing you true joy? Because this one child’s smile sure lifted my spirits that day and God reminded me that even though things may not go as planned he wants us to know He is in control and to keep smiling and encouraging one another.

Who today needs your smile to remind them to keep going?
