Monday Meanderings- updated with a picture…

So on Saturday my two oldest boys had basketball championship games. I like the picture above because I really needed to be there in order to calm down after two championship games in a row.The first game was middle son’s game (remember he is my last second shot to win the game son). Well anything he put up, it went in the basket it was amazing. He totaled 14 (that is fourteen!! points in this one game). They won the Championship. Hubby was the coach and one of the parents brought a bag of shredded paper that they poured over hubby’s head when he had his back turned. I am still vacuuming the stuff off my living room floor because it was everywhere in his clothing. But it was so worth it.

Then oldest son had his game next. His team could not make a basket to save their life during the first quater, it was so frustrating. They just needed to find their rhythm. Finally they began to score in the second quarter, and in the third quarter they managed to inch ahead. But the other team fought hard. We were one point behind with .02 seconds on the clock. Right when a boy on my son’s team shot the last second shot, a boy on the other team fouled him for a 3 point foul. So we got to have one boy at the free throw line shooting for the possibility of three points. HE MISSED THE FIRST TWO! Talk about pressure on this poor teenage boy. Then he made the third, which tied up the game and sent it to overtime. In overtime, the other team was able to get some baskets right off the bat. My son’s team fought hard, and basically the other team had bigger guys. My son’s team lost by one point, in over time, for the Championship game. It took me all day to calm down! Talk about trying to give this mother a heart attack!

Good news…NO PRACTICE THIS WEEK. Boy I can already tell this is going to be a better week than last week.

I am done with my taxes, yeah! Also I finished painting my bedroom on Sunday. We are hoping to finally have our house listed by the end of this month, beginning of next. I am excited. Part of me does not want it to sell to fast because we will still be improving things at the beginning. But then again if someone really wants to buy it, then who am I to stand in the way. I am a wee bit nervous because I see a lot of signs around town, but God is in control and I leave all this up to him.

I finished reading my book Twisted Root (Barb it is another good one, surprise ending!). Now I have to select what to read next…so many to chose from. And I have a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble…do you know how dangerous I am. Manly man was teasing me that I am going to use my big gift certificate all on the yummy coffee there! But oh no, I promise to get a lot of books too!

Have I mentioned I love my theology class (ok I know a few hundred times)! I feel like a brand new Christian soaking up all the information I can get, and then bouncing all the stuff I am learning off my Mom. She and I love to have “theological” discussions.

Ok, here is one for you guys to chew on, and maybe you already knew this but I didn’t or did not put it together….in my theology book it says while Christ is in heaven right now (awaiting the second coming), he is still in his resurrected body. The same body, flesh and bones, that Thomas had to touch. You could feel him, touch him in his resurrected body. That was a “I need to highlight this and chew on this” moment.

This is what it says:

“….as far as Jesus’ human body is concerned, it was like ours in every respect before his resurrection, and after his resurrection it was still a human body with “flesh and bones,” but made perfect, the kind of body that we will have when Christ returns and we are raised from the dead as well. Jesus continues to exist in that human body in heaven, as the ascention is designed to teach.” Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem

Thoughts? Be nice if you weigh in, I don’t do controversy, but I love discussions.

Boy, when I sat down I did not think I had anything to say. Have a great Monday!

  1. Well, I have never heard this before, but that doesn’t mean that I disagree with it. Something to ponder over tomorrow when I get bored at work.

Blessings on your Monday and always…

  2. Congratulations to your middle son on his Championship win. I’m sorry for older son. What a heart breaker!
I never heard/thought about Christ still being in his human body in heaven. I don’t disagree with it either. Just not something I’ve ever heard about, but it is something to ponder more and to learn about more. It gave me pause when I first read it. In my mind I’ve always pictured him as ethereal. But it does make sense. Thanks for the thought provoking Monday morning:) Hope you have a fantastic week and good luck putting the house on the market.

  3. I totally forgot something last night…
Congrats on your middle son’s win :) . And for your oldest – there is always next year…

    Blessings to you and yours…

  4. We spent many years going to softball games, volleyball games, gymnastics meets and cheerleading competitions. It’s gutwrenching when they come that close and lose. Sounds like you had some serious hold-your-breath moments. I remember being weary of it all but reading this makes me realize I kind of miss it all. So much excitement.

I know what you mean about thinking you have nothing to say. Just look at my Sunday Meanderings posts. Good grief, they go on and on forever and even then, I think, shoot! I forgot to say THIS. LOL

I’m on book #6 of the Mitford series. One more to go then I’m diving into Anne Perry. The Twisted Root is one of the four I do have. :-)

  5. My boy isn’t enjoying his first season in basketball. He can’t wait for football season to get here. Mama likes him playing basketball, though. Much less intense.

Your theology class sounds really interesting. Share more!

  6. I am pondering the thought of a “new body” that doesn’t get old, tired, or sick. The same body that Jesus has. It is an awesome thought. I love how God doesn’t leave out any details.

  7. Yes, share more. Where are you taking a Theology class? At a university? Sounds interesting. And deep.

I think the quote you showed made sense. I’ve never really thought about it. I can’t imagine what could be too controversial about it.

  8. Congratulations to both boys!! I know they both played their hearts out. I can remember sitting in the stands watching our son play. I think it’s a whole lot tougher on the parents than on the kids!!
I love Anne Perry – I’ve read tons of her books. Can you believe how fast she writes them?
On your theological discussion – I have always though that Jesus was forever changed when He chose to come to earth for us. He will always bear those scars. I’m not sure about the resurrection body. He was able to enter a room without going through the door – so it was different in that way too. I’ll have to chew on that one a little while longer.

  9. I’ve never heard this before but it’s something to ponder.

Sounds like exciting playoffs. With my oldest in basketball, I know exactly what you mean. Nailbiter for sure. Congrats to both your boys.

  10. I TOTALLY DISAGREE!!

Just kidding (lol) I’m scaring you with my comment here :) Actually I think that’s a pretty awesome discovery I LOVE learning stuff like that. We could have hours of discussion on this stuff. I study geneologies and the whole bit always looking to dig deeper.

I can’t wait to hug Jesus. It would be wonderful to feel his arms, but I’m sure it will be far more wonderfull than my mind can comprehend.

Your sons sound so awesome as does Mr. Laurel

  11. Yea, for getting taxes done. Isn’t that such a relief. Calls for more chocolate in celebration.
