Post Thanksgiving

presents

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. It was nice and relaxing here in the all male household. There were no organized sports scheduled, just time to spend with each other. This is rare for this family who is always driving from one sporting event to another.

Of course I had to much food. And I mean that literally! I am one who does not eat large meals EVER, but I live for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, everything tasted WONDERFUL and I ate probably the largest meal I have had in a long time. I was so miserable. My sweet husband took me for a long walk and then I laid on the couch and fell asleep. I don’t think I will eat until Christmas.

I am excited to say my oldest son officially made the JV Basketball team. I say “officially” because everything has been in limbo for over three weeks, but now it is official. We are all very excited. They have their first basketball game Tuesday.

Manly man wanted to do the “get up at an ungodly hour and go shopping” on Friday the day after Thanksgiving—yep I married a man who LOVES to shop. So he dragged me out of bed at 4:30am with me wondering where the heck my coffee was as we drove to our first stop…Best Buy. We arrived by 5am to stand in a line that was already ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BUILDING. Of course we had one of the coldest days this winter on the day I am standing outside at 5 “stinkin” am. Once the doors opened and they began to let people in, the line moved quickly. It felt so good to be inside the heated building. I am such a Floridian whimp to cold weather (but I love cold weather…go figure).

The good news was everyone was polite and we got a lot of our Christmas shopping done that Friday. I usually have my tree up by now but it did not work out, so maybe this next weekend. I am dragging my feet this year because we are heading to Baltimore for Christmas so I even contemplated not putting up our tree, but manly man nixed that idea. So the tree will go up.  Hey, I decorated my blog that should count!  Ha!

I think I will be more in the Christmas spirit after this next weekend.  We have our yearly small town Christmas parade.  Our family has attended every year since we moved to this small town.  I remember my now teenage boys sitting in their strollers watching the parade as tiny infants.  If I had to list what I like most about my small town I think this would be either number one or two on the list.

So tell me one thing you did over the Thanksgiving holiday or leave me a link to your post talking about your vacation.

  1. At some point we are going to have to meet IRL…I was just down near you and now you will be an hour away from me at Christmas time…too funny!
I cooked and watched football on Thanksgiving (what else do you do in a house full of boys?) and I went black Friday shopping with my oldest. Glad you had a restful holiday, my friend!

  2. Girl – we did nothing!!!! AND we loved it. It was so very relaxing. Mark and I had a blast just hanging out :)

5am at Best Buy – well, you would never catch me there that early – lol…I am glad that you got most of your Christmas shopping done.

Whoot for your son – how exciting to have him play JV basketball :) – Congrats to him
