I was tagged by her, and then her..so I better get on the ball.
Here are the directions:
1)Grab the book closest to you
2)Open to page 123, go down to the fourth sentence
3)Post the text of the following 3 sentences on your blog
4)Name the author and book title
5)Tag three people to do the same
“Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World” by JoAnna Weaver
(which should be required reading for all women)
“But what did Mary and Martha think at the time? What did the disciples think? And what about my life- and yours? What do we do when God doesn’t act or move the way we think He should?”
I am going to cheat and not tag anyone. Instead I will do the other Meme that has been around.
Six Weird Things About Me
1. When I grow up I want to look like Shania Twain. She is what I listen to when I work out. I have loved her forever and one of my favorite songs is this.. Almost had manly man sign a contract with those words.
2. Manly Man hates country but loves this song. And knows it will melt me anywhere, at anytime.
3.I have to read something before I fall asleep. Anything! But I can not fall asleep unless I read, even if it is a few sentences.
4. I love chocolate with a glass of wine. Is that weird? I guess I love chocolate anytime, but I love a glass a wine with it.
What you don’t think I am weird enough yet, you need two more? Ok..
5. I can eat peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon. Love Love Love peanut butter.
6. I drive like a grandma (there I admitted to all my family, well if they don’t read my blog I won’t tell them I admitted it). Oh and I successfully ran a red light today like a grandma (it was a VERY remote area, with no cars coming either way, I got to distracted talking to manly man that I just slowly rolled right through, ugg…) I told manly man he gets me too flustered even after 13 years of marriage.
So did I successfully blow everyone’s image of me. Yep I can be strange.
I am so w/you on the peanut butter and I really miss it. My son is allergic to peanuts/nuts, so we don’t keep it in the house. Maybe that is a good thing for me though.
Love that book! Definitely a good one! And I like to eat peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon too!
Great job Laurel. But about the “grandma” thing….I’m a grandma and I probably ought to slow down a tad
Mary Heart / Martha World is wonderful! We studied it as a group a couple of years ago, and much of what we read has stayed with me, especially the story about “spiritual snickers bars,” those lesser things we tend to settle for instead feasting on the things of God…
And by the way, we’re all strange, just in strangely different ways!
I have this book and plan to read it sometime this year.
AAAA! I should have changed the rules and said the next 5 sentences. That just grabbed my interest and then ended.
I like Shania Twain too and I need to read before bed also. But I definitely don’t drive like a grandma! :v)
You soooo didn’t blow your image with me. Are you kidding me? I could have written the answers to the second meme.
It cracks me up that when I tried to link to the second song, the one that gets you every time, I got a page that said I was forbidden from seeing it. What? So tell me, was it “Forever and For Always?” Because that’s the one that gets me every time.
I eat peanut butter out of the jar, drive like a GREAT grandmother and there’s no way I can fall asleep unless I read in bed first.
Honestly, I could have written those answers.
Laurel,
I love to read…but it doesn’t have to be before bed, and I love chocolate with a diet coke.
I have to admit that the grandma driving did blow my image of you!
fun meme!

I have to say I just loved some of your answers. I can sure relate to trying to fit in to them old jeans song. : )
Well, I need something with my peanut butter, but my hubby has been known to eat it right out of the jar. I’m right with you on the reading. It doesn’t matter how exhausted I am, I must read something before I fall asleep!
I used to be the wine specialist back when I worked in the restaurant world – which isn’t to say that I had special training or vast knowledge or any of that I just sold a lot of it because I enjoyed drinking wine so I was able to find a good fit for most people…ANYWAY it’s not crazy that you enjoy chocolate with a glass of wine. The wine cleanses the palate and enhances the flavor of the chocolate or whatever you are eating and chocolate and wine are very complimentary….
Now peanut butter on a spoon I cannot handle but I am becoming more and more that grandma driver….
I’m right there with ya on 3 and 5. AND… that book is so on my list of books to read this year. Fun post!!
Hey, remember me mentioning my first boyfriend in kindergarten, well ke grew up to be a violinist/fiddler and playedfor a couple years as part of Shania Twain’s band. He also played at our wedding.
Shania Twain is the ONLY country I will listen to.
I spent years reading before I fell asleep, and generally need to, except when the kids wake during the night then I can fall back asleep.
And, around our house a “peanut butter spoon” or two or three is considered a meal.
