Looking Back

by Lori

Each week I will try to highlight posts that touched my heart. I am queen of emailing posts to my family saying “read this!” This year I will try to give you a weekly list of posts that touched me and would be worth you time reading. So welcome to the family, I am saying “hey this is a great read when you have a moment!”

Bloggers are terrible writers, here is a list of what not to do.  I am  guilty of EVERY ONE and I think I broke at at least two rules just writing this sentence.

Trevin Wax of Kingdom People has been interviewing Any Crouch, who is a senior editor at Christianity Today International.   I wanted to highlight the question where Andy talks about being wary of “world-changers.”  I really like when Andy said, “..whatever halting progress I have made in becoming more Christlike is entirely attributable to God’s grace, not to any particularly impressive strategies I have pursued.”

Reading is like breathing to me, but I know many people do not view it the same way. I want to encourage you that just reading 15 minutes a day (no matter what it is) reaps great rewards. Be encouraged by Janelle Bradshaw’s goal for this year. (and if you are my sister I added this link just for you ;) ) )

I tell my boys not to look to athletes as their role models, but it sure is GREAT to have a good example of how to live a godly life in the midst of temptations.

Do you have any problems?  Be sure to blame it on the economy. (this post made me chuckle)

Hey it is written in black and white so IT MUST BE TRUE: Messy Homes are Good For Kids!!

  • Some great sites here. It's true! Bloggers are terrible writers. At times, I'm even ashamed to say that I am a former English teacher! It's so easy to toss the "rules" out the window, when it feels like you're having a conversation with friends. I'll try to do better. ;-)
  • Well, girlfriend...I KNOW I am guilty of SEVERAL of those....especially the overused exclaimation points!!!! KNOW what I mean???
I had to laugh though when I read them :)

    Love you!

  • That list of what bad bloggers do is hysterical. I break almost every single rule on that list too. AND I start a lot of sentences with conjunctions.

Good thing I don't take this stuff seriously. If I thought my writing was being analyzed and critiqued, I think I'd just hang it up. LOL
  • I love this idea of yours; looking back on your week, highlighting posts that touched your heart and ...best of all, sharing them with us! I loved reading about the football player. People in general, not only kids, seem to look up to athletes. I just read yesterday in the AZ Republic about Warner who is a quarterback with the AZ Cardinals. He's also a committed Christian and a good example. I also love reading but lately haven't had the time I wish I did. I love the suggestion of reading 15 minutes a day. That's certainly doable for most.

    Thanks Lori!
