Looking Back

Looking_Back

This has been the week of emotions and drugs.  I hurt my back somehow and for the past three weeks it has hurt, so I decided to get it checked out.  The Dr. cracked my back (which hurt like the dickens and I yelped kind of loudly–I am a big baby if you have any doubts), but in the end he gave me some nice pain pills and muscle relaxers which left me in la-la land for at least a few days.  I am sure the boys used this to their advantage and I promised all sorts of stuff they will swear I said they could do, but my mind will not remember.

I am getting ready to head to Dallas next Wednesday for Christian Book Expo .  I am so excited to be able to listen and learn from some authors I highly admire.  My wish is to met Max Lucado and Lysa TerKeurst to name a few, but I am a shy nervous type so we will see.  I think I will just be excited if they walk by me ;)

The Lord has been opening doors for me that make me excited but freak me out at the same time.  If I am truly honest, I would tell you I spent the first two days of this week trying not to have a panic attack; finally when I prayed “Lord in my own strength I can not move forward, but if it is your will then I will go.” I have had such peace since then.  Satan knows how to attack me, and that is with my insecurities.  My poor sisters, Mom, and prayer partners have had to put up with me freaking out and feeling like God has the wrong girl in mind for certain things.  I can not tell them “thank you” enough.

There will be no Looking Back next week since I will still be frolicking in Dallas, I hope to get some pictures to share with you.  Pray for hubby as he is batching it for a few days, I am sure the kids will all eat fine meals at Micky D’s each night, ha!

Below are a few articles I enjoyed this week, have a wonderful weekend (it is nice and sunny here in Florida).

Albert Mohler has an interesting article on “Dying Without God” I really like this sentence, “To die without belief in God is to die without fear of judgment and without hope of resurrection. To die without God is to die utterly alone.”

Sweet story of healing here in this article “God Heals.”

Love this encouragement of never giving up on unbelieving friends or relatives.

Yep, she’s got a boy. And yep she has not seen anything yet.  Should I share with her how one boy managed to break the same window three times in the same month (after getting it fixed each time?).  Nah, I will leave that for another day.  I would be sad if she purchased all the Extra-Strength Excedrin bottles in Florida since I live there too, ha!

  1. So sorry about your back! Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Have fun at the Christian Book Expo!

I can echo that about not giving up on unbelieving loved ones. My father was saved after praying for him for years.

  2. I am sure you will have a super time in Dallas. I will cover your trip with prayers. I am certain that you will be able to meet Max Lucado and Lysa TerKeurst. God will give you the right words to speak. I am so very excited for you, my sweet friend…

  3. Lori, I know you will have a fabulous time in Dallas! What a wonderful opportunity to meet many Christian authors. Don’t put a lot of pressure on yourself. Just pray that the Lord would guide you and arrange for you to meet the people He wants you to meet. And then just watch and see what happens. I pray that your back will be better, especially sleeping in a hotel bed. I wish you could squeeze me into your suitcase along with Iris. :) Hugs to you, Lori!

  4. Oh, I’m still green-eyed envious about your trip, but I pray that God will give you your heart’s desires for the weekend and that your back will be no trouble at all to you. Tell us about it when you return and remember that God has you there for a reason!

  5. I hope your back keeps getting better! I have had a fit with mine lately, and after being woke up again (it’s 2:39 AM) by it, I’ve resolved to go to the Dr this week!

As for Dallas, I hope you have an awesome trip! I will be praying for ya! Keep this in mind,…..the people you are going to be meeting don’t know you are the shy nervous type,……the possibilities are endless, my friend! :)

The trip sounds exciting! It’s nice to know you’ll be in our wonderful state next week. Our kids just moved into the Dallas area – so we’ll be back and forth often.
