While driving in the car with my youngest son, he was contemplating why I changed purses so much. You know that is right next to the thoughts about what he is going to eat when we arrive home.
Son: Mom why do you keep getting new purses?
Me: Well for one I did not buy this purse, Grandma gave me this purse last time we visited.
Son: Ok, but why did you change purses?
Me: It is winter time, and women like to change purses as the seasons change. It is kind of like shoes, women change shoes to match their outfit.
Son: But WHY do you change purses and shoes, what is wrong with the one that you had?
Me: We just do honey, we like to change shoes and purses about as often as you change underwear.
Son: (deep in thought) But I HAVE to change underwear….
(this is me with a big grin knowing I have instilled the Mom motto: make sure you have clean underwear on when you leave the house).
Ah, not sure how my son will do if he marries a girly girl. I am trying future daughter in laws, just know I am trying.
PS- No that is not my purse, but sure wish it was =)
That is funny. My son ASKS me to change purses, or shoes, or whatever. He is funny and likes to take me shoe shopping and pick out new shoes for me. Maybe it is having only older sisters. My middle brother was (and is ) the same way though my youngest brother is not–so maybe it is personality.
You know, I think I missing the purse gene. I tend to buy one and use it until it falls apart. But I DO like looking at pretty purses.

You know I am having a really hard time explaining to my husband why my daughter cannot just have 3 pairs of shoes (tennies, dress shoes and cleats) like my sons. She just can’t I said. She’s a girl, there is no other explanation required.

My sons have never noticed or commented on that about purses, but they are that way about not letting me decorate their rooms. They don’t want curtains on the windows, pictures ot plaques on the wall, nuttin’. I hope they relent when they get married!!

I love that purse too. I’m not into name brands; however, upon mere coincidence I discovered what a Coach purse is. I bought a $19.95 purse from Target. It looks very much like a Coach but it had Os instead of Cs on it. Someone once asked if it was a Coach. I then started seeing Coach purses everywhere.
I don’t care for most of the looks of Coach purses. However, I do LOVE this one that looks like patch work. Of course, for me the most important aspect is that it has a short strap (preferrable one but can tolerate two if needed) and then of course that it zips and some other features. I just bought a new purse at JC Penney’s. I had my last one for about nine months…the Target one. When I bought that one, I said I’ll never part with this one.
Unlike most women, I only go through my purse once. I never go back to a purse I’ve stopped using…weird I know. I guess my style, size, need changes.
Who could ramble this much about purses. Funny.
Blessings,
Paula

Sounds like something a boy would say. But I love that purse…in fact, I have one that looks very much like that one.

It’s funny the things kids will ask us, isn’t it? Hey, I was just going to say NICE PURSE, but I see it’s not really your purse ; ) I change my purse whenever I’m in the mood.

Hi Laurel,
Love your talk with your son. Sounds like something that would transpire in my house. How did you get video on your blog? I see you have WordPress too.. My blog is new (www.tangerinetimes.com) and I wanted to add video – not sure how to go about it. Something about the FTP directory?? I’m bookmarking this blog!
