School begins in 17 days!!! What does it mean that I spent over an hour today updating my calendar with the new school year schedule?
Ok in all honesty I am not looking forward to having three boys in three different schools.
One son is in his last year of elementary, one smack in the middle of middle school, and one is a “greenhorn” freshman.
While I am already whining can I just say I do not like the high school’s school colors….green/yellow. Number one, I don’t look good in yellow (I know shallow but true) and two I only own one green shirt. I did what any normal Mom would do, I walked into the J Crew Outlet Mall bought one green and one yellow tank top ($4 dollars a piece) and plan on layering them. That will be my official “Sports Mom” school spirit.
I am more of a red, white, and blue girl. Oh well I will survive. I am open to any suggestions for making green and yellow cute, I need to find some cute hair accessory also.
I think I am more nervous about high school freshman orientation than my son is. When we first walked on campus I could not even find the “front office.” You would think the Front Office would be, you know IN THE FRONT. I guess it is some sort of IQ test because the Front Office is located on the side of campus, and obviously I failed.
Anyways this makes me a wee-bit worried about oldest son finding his 7 classes the first day of school, hopefully he is better at the IQ test than his Mom.
Green and yellow….tough! I think you’ve got the right idea on the layering! You could always buy a white tee and layer the green or yellow under that….maybe it wouldn’t cast a “glow” over your skin like the green and yellow can….( I’m a total ray of sunshine, right?..lol) Our school colors here are gold (yuck!) and black (thank goodness!!) I tend to go lotsa black…..itty bitty bit of gold! (like maybe earings)
I worked in a high school and my advice is to tacky it up! You simply cannot overdo tacky when dressing for a high school football game.
Oh the freshman gitters. Hold on Mamma….time flies.
I was just thinking yesterday how this is the 2nd to last year we will line up on the front step for “first day fo school pictures” with our Andrew.
I can hardly believe how fast time goes, and it seems like just yesterday we were sitting in freshman orientation..and now he’s entering his junior year.
Hug them a little tighter…and a little longer…for soon…well..you know what will come soon!
And…keep the GIRLS away for as long as you can!!! Seriously..they are really forward creaters..those girls. Thankfully…our guy…is STILL to interested in his sports, for the girls! THANK YOU Jesus!!
LOL! I like the idea of a white shirt with the green or yellow under. OR.. just do a white tshirt and jeans with a green and yellow ribbon pinned on it. Even better. ;P
Too funny. I don’t think it ever occured to us parents to dress in the high school colors. I think we were just all glad we even got there. Most of us would be dashing in from work. Although with one Kay’s basketball clubs we all sprayed our hair red for a tournament. Bright bold red. That was interesting.
I found your blog through a post on My Garden Hat’s blog. You mentioned shopping with your mom and she found the “dinky” jeans. That cracked me up! So I had to come check out your site. I love the “front office” IQ test. Ha, ha!
