If you could say a prayer…(updated)

by Lori

As I type this my cousin is on the airplane heading to Russia as a missionary. He will be there for 2 years. That is where it stands now, but I have a feeling this will become his home.

Please pray for safe travels, that he will get adjusted quickly.

Also keep my Aunt in your prayers, as proud as she is of her son and would not want to change at thing; it is hard for any Mom to put her child on a plane and to head to another country, knowing you won’t see him for at least a year. She is also a faithful reader of my blog (hi Auntie, praying for you). Aunt/Uncle…you’ve done good, now it God’s turn.

Love you Michael and I am proud of you.

From my Aunt (her whole response is in the comment section):

Hi Laurel,
Thanks for putting Mike on your blog.
He called me this morning at 5:30 to let me know he had made it to Riga. God is so good. ……. Thanks to all of your wonderful ladies who read your blog for praying for Mike. It means a lot to a mother to know that MANY people are praying for your son. I am beginning to know what praying without ceasing really means!!!

I want to thank you for the prayers also, it really does mean a lot THANKS!!

What an amazing man your cousin is. I know it’s got to be difficult to know he’s going to be so far away for such a long time, but what a blessing he is. His safe travel is in my prayers.

And I’m saying a special prayer for your aunt. I know she has to be so proud of him, but no mother wants to say to her son, especially when he’s going to the other side of the world. My heart is with her.

God BLESS him! that is really exiting but yes — as you said — hard on the mama’s heart. i used to travel a lot with missions and my dear mama was on her knees ALOT. i never understood the heart of a mama….until i became one!

I certainly with keep Michael and his family in my prayers. What a privilege to do so.
I can’t even imagine how your Aunt and Uncle feel about this, but I think it is wonderful opportunity for Michael. I think your Aunt and Uncle have done very well raising him. I know that God will keep him safe.

Oh Laurel
What an exciting yet sad time for your family.
Michael will see and do so much good.
I read a lovely blog from a young couple who are missionaries in Russia (presently home until the birth of their 1st baby)
http://leifandjami.blogspot.com/
here is the link, hope it makes you feel better to see such a wonderful Christian community surrounding this couple and they ministry they do.

How cool.
May God increase the work of His hands and use him to bring many into the kingdom.

Laurel – where exactly is he serving? I have friends ministering through SEND International in Far East Russia.

There are SUCH open doors, windows, everything since the fall of communism. Bless his work!

Hi Laurel,
Thanks for putting Mike on your blog.
He called me this morning at 5:30 to let me know he had made it to Riga. God is so good. I have been doing a long term sub job and have been so busy but was off this week for break and was able to spend time with Mike and go to the airport! It was had saying goodbye but I know that is where God wants him right now. Keep praying for him! Did your mom tell you about our free dinner we got for Mike’s going away dinner? Thanks to all of your wonderful ladies who read your blog for praying for Mike. It means a lot to a mother to know that MANY people are praying for your son. I am beginning to know what praying without ceasing really means!!!

Laurel, we stand with you in prayer! My home church has made a few mission trips to Russia–loved it—saw God move!
I have never ventured out of the USA….but my grandbuddy (step-dad) went to Russia on one of those trips and really saw what God can do! God will use Michael in great ways!!
(BTW—I will mail your book out on Monday!)

How sweet that you put your aunt’s response on your blog…I am so thrilled to read that your cousin made it safely.

Blessings to you and yours.

Hi Laurel, I will definitely say a prayer for your sweet cousin. Though I would be so proud if one of my children took a journey such as this, I am sure my mommy emotions would be screaming “No don’t go, please don’t leave me”. I have rather a flare for the dramatic.

Praying for a safe trip and for your sweet aunt too.

Warmly,
Julie

I was *JUST* thinking about him this morning! How cool!

He will continue to be in my prayers and of course I will pray for your aunt. What a wonderful blessing he will be to so many people.
