That statement may be an exaggeration, how about “Dyson improved my marriage.” I pouted to anyone who listened that I was the only person on both sides of the family that did not own a Dyson. Every time I walked into Sears I would look longingly at the new Dysons dreaming of what it would be like to have a state-of-the-art cleaning machine. Hubby and I could not justify spending the money when “old faithful” was still plugging away.
One of the traits that attracted me to my husband was his organizational skills. The smartest statement I made while engaged was, “I am marrying you so you can organize my life.” It was a smart statement because when ever there was a comment about my stellar housekeeping skills I would just whip out the statement I made, before he said I DO. He walked in with his eyes open. Mind you I don’t have a messy floor, but if I am honest the carpet is not vacuumed daily or floors mopped weekly. I leave those tasks for when someone spills.
Everything changed this Christmas. Either my in-laws wanted to bless me or they thought goodness get this girl a Dyson so she will stop whining. Whatever the reason, I now dance around my living room vacuuming with my new Dyson. Now don’t faint with shock but I have vacuumed every day! When I was bringing out the lovely Dyson earlier this week my oldest son said, “Mom I will vacuum.” Excuse Me?? Are my ears playing tricks?
I stepped back and said, “Ok.” To see if he really meant it, and low and behold he vacuumed the living room and the hallway! Be still my fainting heart.
So in 2009 we will have cleaner and well vacuumed carpets and my husband has one less thing to “organize” in my life.
Now if anyone has any suggestions for self cleaning toilets I am all ears.
