5 Reasons Why I am Loving Windows Live Writer

by Lori

I have been hanging out on Darren Rowse’s (author of 31 Days to build a Better Blog) new Problogger.com Community and I read how many people were writing their blog posts on Windows Live Writer. I had heard of Window’s Live Writer but never gave it a second thought, but after hearing some great reviews I decided to give it a try.

Below are 5 things I have loved so far:

I was just shown this links if you do use Live Writer http://gallery.live.com/

1. You type your post on a page that looks like a Microsoft Word Document, but It allows you to manage multiple blogs, preview posts, and posts your post for you. You can even set a publish date for a future date and designate categories all inside Windows Live Writer.

2. Windows Live Writer makes inserting photos into a post easy.  There are also some plugins you can download so you can access photos on Flickr.  Once you insert the picture, Windows Live Writer allows you to modify size, borders and apply graphics. (see example below)

This colorizing and frame was all done inside Windows Live Writer.

The rounded corners, the watermark were all completed inside Windows Live Writer.

Ok you can say it…THAT IS COOL!

3. Not that I use this feature that much, but it is still  VERY cool.  It allows you to insert a map very easily.

Ok once again…OOOO AHHHH!

4. Windows Live Writer works with other weblogs including Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress (and many others). Need I say more?

5. Lastly if you are like me, once you sign on to the internet you become distracted easily, Windows Live Writer is easy to start up and allows you to complete your posts without the additional distractions.

No they did not pay me to write this, but dang they should have! ha!

  • Ok, ok, you have made some very convincing arguments. I'll try it. After all one more blog (this will make 5) can't hurt. lol

    Thanks.
  • Where have I been? Haven't picked up on Windows Live Writer although I'm tempted to say, 'not something else for me to learn!' The photos effects are cool though.
  • so did you switch compeletly Lori? Were you able to transfer all your stuff over? how about templates? Easy to navigate? Inquiring minds want to know! I'm not too thrilled with Wordpress anymore.
  • I have to check it out this weekend. Thanks for the link.
  • Me too Me too! I've been using it for a while and LOVE it!

ALSO---reason I love it...when I go "dog sit" for my mom...and she has NO INTERNET---I can work on a post--see what it will look like---all w/o internet access---and publish it when I hook back up!

    Good job girl!

Thanks for praying for our Zacky. He is resting/not eating much/ but KNOWS we are all praying :)
  • Thanks for the info! I might just have to go try this out....!
  • I've been using WLW since April and absolutely LOVE IT!

I like the variety of fonts available and how quickly everything loads over to the blog. Another major plus: As long as you save your post as a draft, you have just backed up and saved your blog posts. No more fears of loosing everything. I've got a blog backup service, but this is double protection.

The only downside for me is there are two computers I write from. I need to remember which computer I saved a pending draft on.
