This is a true story of a wealthy white couple who volunteer at a homeless shelter, in Ft. Worth, TX, and meet Denver Moore, a homeless guest. There’s a transformation process that happens for the couple as well as for Denver that’s quite amazing.
This book touched me in so many ways. I recommend this book very much, I will say it took me about 50 pages to grab me, but when it did it did not let me go and my heart has been changed a bit more for reading this. I would not read it for its Christian theology, but the heart message is so strong you will need a tissue or a few boxes (in my case). This is a book you walk away thinking about days afterwards.

sounds like a really good book thanks for telling us about it
This sounds like a really good book. You told us just enough about it to make it very intriguing. I’ll be looking for this one.
And I’ll keep B in my prayers. Must have been a pretty bad break for the poor guy to have to have surgery.
Your rainy day sounded wonderful to me. So pleasant to just sit there and enjoy it.
Sounds like a wonderful book, will definitely read it.
Laurel,
Found your site through CWO. I can’t wait to run out and get this book! My family has such a call to missions (both locally and internationally). I love reading about other peoples experiences ministering to those less fortunate than ourselves!
I will definately be checking back with you!
Blessings!
Thanks for sharing, Laurel…I wish I had the time to read. I really need to prioritize…
Blessings to you and yours.
I have heard a couple of other people talk about this book being so great! I’ll have to check it out!
That shelter is oh, so close to where my husband works. What are the couple’s names?
I hadn’t heard of this one Laurel but I am going to put it on my reading list right now!
Jenny
That sounds like a good book!
I’ve just recently finished this book. This is one of the most spellbounding and heartfelt books I’ve ever read. The story of true love and faith in God and the lives of two men which paralelled each other from their childhood. This book solidfies the true nature of why God said, “love thy neighbor”. You can’t tell what a person is all about unless you are willing to take the time reach out to them, especially if thye’re less fortunate than you. I’m 51yrs old and I cried like a baby. As I read the book I felt like I was actually there with them as they shared each segment of their lives. There is definitely a message from God in this book for all of us to hear. Christian or not! There’s a message to be preached in this book. I wish that I could meet them in person. God bless Ron Hall and Denver Moore.
A powerful book which has a message to be preahed to us all.
i read this book for a book report in seventh grade it is a very strong book, one of the best books i ever read
