For Parents Only: Getting Inside the head of your kid by Shaunti Feldhahn and Lisa Rice

I only have to look to my 13 year old and know we speak a different language. Shaunti Feldhahn and Lisa A Rice who brought us the best-selling books For Women Only, For Men Only, and For Young Women Only now brings us For Parents Only: Getting Inside the head of your kid. In this book they share the results of a nationwide survey and personal interviews they did with more than 1,000 real-life teens and tweens to tackle those things parents often don’t “get” about their kids. I am a relatively young Mom of a 13 year old so I figured it has not been that long since I was a teen. I have to admit this book opened my eyes. This book does a great job defining what “We Think is Happening” versus “What’s Really Happening.”

The book addresses topics such as:

What is the most intoxicating and addictive thing your teenager seeks?

What is the best way to parent?

What can we do as parents so they don’t emotionally shut us out, but actually seek our advice?

What do they really mean when they tell you to “stop freaking out?”

These are all subjects that are addressed in this book, along with so much more. I highly recommend it, I think it will be a book I will refer back to many times. BUT BUT GUESS WHAT….you can to!!!

Multnomah Books has give me TWO COPIES TO GIVE AWAY….FOR FREE…I will announce the winner December 3rd.

If you are interested please let me know in the comments. I WILL ONLY SELECT FROM THE ONES WHO SAY THEY ARE INTERESTED.

  20. I love #4. At my last Bible study we were watching a Beth Moore DVD and Beth said that when we stop growing and learning, we stop being true disciples. I love that He accepts us at every stage of our lives and just continues to use our experiences to mold us to be the people He meant us to be.

Have a great week Laurel and thanks for hosting!

  21. I was surprised to see so many participants had already posted last night. I saved mine for this morning.

  22. So glad you are feeling better! Having a 13 year old and two quickly approaching, means yes! Definitely enter me in the drawing. I love Shaunti Feldhahn’s “For Women Only”.

  25. Oh yay! You’re feeling better!

My daughter is 8 going on 21 already, so I could use a good book to explain stuff to me :) Reminds me I need to look at my bookshelf and get some books together for a giveaway! Maybe I’ll work on that this weekend :D

  29. I am very interested in this book. I will be stateside in December so if I am blessed enough it would be a US address! We have friends who are German and work with kids in Germany. There are no Christian resources available for them. They read fluent English and would love to give one to my friend.
