Are you ready for some…..Soccer (Thought I was going to Say Football, huh?)

Despite still being 10000 degrees outside here in Florida the calendar tells me Fall is around the corner. It is at that time I start signing “This is the most wonderful time of the year.” Anyone who knows me has heard me say a time or two or a thousand that September, October, November are my favorite times of the year; with Thanksgiving being my favorite holiday (I am my Daddy’s girl that way).

IMG_6560_filteredAlso this means we leave the wonderful sport of basketball behind for a couple of months and enter the world of soccer and cross country. My youngest one said he wanted to play soccer again and my two older boys will be running cross country meets almost every Saturday early in the mornings. This has been a new experience for my middle child, he is very athletic and sports minded but his enjoyment with running has surprised me. My oldest will most likely make the varsity team in cross country, he has been working hard on his speed.

This Momma is doing great with her running, but unlike her boys who run 5 miles a day I can only manage 3 miles every other day, and that is with my yelling “I can do all things through Christ” all throughout the last half mile. Oh if I could bottle up some of their endurance and energy.

My youngest son lost his final championship basketball game last night and my two older boys have their championship game on Saturday.  ItIMG_6604_filtered was bitter sweet for my youngest, he scored a lot of points and it was a great game.  But it is hard to win against a player who shots 7 3-pointers in one game.  This player was on their game and unfortunately on the other team.  Ah well.

My husband does a wonderful job coaching, I enjoy watching him with the kids and how they come to respect him and his coaching.  He will be coaching my youngest son’s soccer team also.  I praise God he had me marry a man who loves sports (hmm did I say that I use to curse it, anyways)…what I was saying is if the Lord blessed me with three boys I am so blessed he gave me a man who likes to be right there in the middle of everything they are doing.  When these boys are older I think they will realize what a blessing it was to always have their father there.

Well the pictures in this post were from last year, I will need to dust off my camera and get it ready.  Unfortunately I have not been as good using my camera as I was in the past, but sitting outside watching soccer gives me inspiration.

Hope all is well with you.  Do you like Fall if so what is the one thing you LOVE about the Fall season?

Nobody’s Friend

NOBODY’S FRIEND

My name is Gossip. I have no respect for justice.
I maim without killing. I break hearts and ruin lives.
I am cunning and malicious and gather strength with age.
The more I am quoted, the more I am believed.
My victims are helpless. They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name or face.
To track me down is impossible. The harder you try, the more elusive I become.
I am nobody’s friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same.
I topple governments and wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indignation.
I make innocent people cry in their pillows.
Even my name hisses. I am called Gossip. I make headlines and headaches.

Gossip is something that has been on my mind. I think almost everyone has been burned by gossip at one time or another, I also believe almost everyone is guilty of gossip. I know I have been.

Want to know who I think has the hardest time with gossip?

People within the church body.

I am not pointing a finger, because three would be pointing back at me. After reading the poem above I thought I would share it because it is a good reminder that we need to be careful what we say, even if what you are saying is true. I have found much of the gossip I have heard is said in “simple” conversations. It was not planned, it is a joke that may have slipped out about someone, or a passing comment about someone. It is rarely a time where you purposely come together to talk about another.

We need to be on guard.

Proverbs 11: 9;13
With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape… A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. (or his opinions about another person to themselves — add by me =) )

Ok off to work on the plank in my own eye.

Can Yellow Ducks and Orange Lizards Both Be the Will of God?

I am over here today:

Laced With Grace

Recently I gave each of my children a bag of yellow squeaky ducks. I prayed about this decision and God led me to the yellow ducks, saying the yellow ducks are what is best for them. The next day I met up with my girlfriend and I found she gave her kids a bag of orange lizards. “Why didn’t you give them the yellow ducks,” I asked, “I believe God wanted all of us Christians to have yellow ducks. I studied God’s word, fasted, and prayed and God said yellow ducks was his will.” (click here to read the rest…)
